Police in Mukono Municipality have apprehended two suspects as part of an ongoing investigation into an aggravated theft that occurred on July 1, 2026. The incident, which took place in Upper Nabuti Cell, saw assailants gain entry into a residence through deception.

According to police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke, the arrests mark significant progress in the case. Investigators have managed to recover crucial evidence, including the motor vehicle and motorcycle believed to have been used by the perpetrators during the crime. The stolen firearm, a pistol identified as belonging to a government engineer, was also among the recovered items.

The suspects allegedly posed as individuals sent to collect a faulty television for repair, tricking a housemaid into granting them access. Once inside, they reportedly stole multiple items, including three television sets, Shs10 million in cash, a CCTV DVR, a mobile phone, and a metallic safe that contained the pistol.

Rusoke highlighted that this case underscores a concerning trend of criminals employing deceptive tactics to infiltrate private homes. He urged the public to exercise caution and verify all requests involving property removal with homeowners directly before allowing access to strangers.

Further investigations are underway to identify any potential accomplices and to fully resolve the aggravated theft case. Homeowners and domestic staff are advised to remain vigilant and confirm external instructions before granting entry or allowing removal of items.
