A heartwarming act of corporate generosity has seen AMA Clinic in Kawempe receive a brand-new 43-inch smart television, all thanks to a viral social media post and the quick action of Next Media Group CEO Kin Kariisa.
The moment of inspiration came when NBS Television videographer James Mutatina noticed a group of patients and staff at the clinic gathered around a visibly aged television set, intently watching NBS programming despite the poor picture quality.
Moved by their dedication to the station, Mutatina shared the scene on X (formerly Twitter), playfully tagging his CEO. He expressed his admiration for the clinic’s loyalty to NBS and suggested they deserved an upgrade to a smart TV.
“My leader @kkariisa, I’m in love with this place. Was hurrying home for #NBSAmassengejje, then spotted a small clinic with NBS TV playing it. Couldn’t pass, had to sit and watch first. Naye my leader, Babulamu ka SmartTV koka,” Mutatina posted.
Kariisa responded almost immediately, directing his corporate affairs team to locate the clinic and ensure they received a new smart TV by June 30th. He also thanked Mutatina for his continued love for NBS TV.
True to the promise, Desire Mugumisa, Senior Manager for Corporate Affairs at Next Media, confirmed the delivery and installation of the smart television, replacing the old unit. Mugumisa stated that the gesture reflects Next Media’s appreciation for their loyal viewers.
The proprietor of AMA Clinic expressed immense gratitude for the unexpected gift, highlighting its positive impact on the patients and staff. Mutatina, reflecting on the event, emphasized the importance of recognizing and rewarding the audience that forms the backbone of media brands.
This act of kindness coincides with NBS Television’s 18th anniversary, underscoring the company’s commitment to maintaining strong connections with its audience across Uganda.
