A group of State House staff, including managers of Presidential Industrial Hubs and Demonstration Farms, along with finance officers, have successfully concluded a five-day leadership transformation and ideological orientation course. The training, held at the Oliver Reginald Tambo Leadership School and Pan African Centre of Excellence in Kaweweta, aimed to equip participants with the necessary skills and principles to effectively drive government initiatives.

Officiating the pass-out ceremony, Government Chief Whip Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng underscored the critical role of integrity, patriotism, and selfless service. She lauded President Yoweri Museveni’s vision for vocational skills development, highlighting its impact on wealth creation and improved household incomes across Uganda.

“The greatest asset of any nation is its people. When citizens possess practical skills, discipline and a strong work ethic, they become drivers of national development,” Dr. Aceng stated, urging the graduates to become NRM ideology ambassadors and inspire transformation within their communities.

Eng. Raymond Kamugisha, Director Presidential Projects and Industrial Hubs, echoed these sentiments, stressing that integrity is the bedrock of public service. He pointed out the significant unemployment challenge in Uganda, noting that while State House programs aim to train thousands, the current demand necessitates collective action.

In response to the unemployment crisis, State House is set to launch a ‘Skill One Ugandan’ campaign, encouraging privileged Ugandans to impart practical skills to at least one less privileged person annually. This initiative aims to complement government efforts by mobilizing individuals and private entities to contribute to youth empowerment.

Further bolstering economic development, the government has allocated Shs8.8 billion to support beneficiaries through 176 SACCOs. The training itself covered vital areas such as leadership, patriotism, Uganda’s political history, economic transformation, discipline, and mindset change, with lectures from various government ministries and institutions.

Four participants were recognized for their outstanding performance, including Hamid Isabirye as the overall best trainee. Meanwhile, the Commandant of the leadership school appealed for the fulfillment of a Shs4 billion pledge for essential infrastructure development.
