Residents of Nankulyaku Ward in Kamuli Municipality are paving the way for progress by donating land for a new road connecting Nankulyaku and Bulongo. This community-led initiative aims to significantly enhance transportation and access to vital services within the Southern Division.

The decision, finalized during a meeting with local leaders and municipal officials, has been widely praised. Mayor Fred Balinango lauded the residents for prioritizing community advancement over personal property, calling their action “true patriotism” that will boost the movement of people and goods.

Assistant Resident District Commissioner Michael Museebe highlighted how such collective efforts accelerate development. “When communities freely contribute land, development moves faster,” he stated, commending the ward’s sacrifice.

Municipal Engineer Shadrach Mwalye confirmed that survey and design work will commence immediately, followed by construction. He assured residents that their concerns have been noted and that the project will include robust drainage systems for durability.

Residents expressed their optimism, noting that the road will ease travel, especially during the rainy season, and improve access to schools, markets, and health facilities. “We voluntarily gave land because we know this road will change our lives,” shared resident Thomas Lubale, anticipating easier commutes for children and more efficient transport of agricultural produce.

This new road is set to foster better connectivity between the two communities and is expected to be a catalyst for improved economic activity and quality of life in Kamuli Municipality.
