In a creative push to attract global tourists, Uganda has launched a mobile tourism exhibition on the streets of Paris. Three buses, adorned with striking images of the country’s natural wonders and wildlife, are now traversing the French capital.

The campaign, initiated by the Ugandan Embassy in Paris, features vivid depictions of mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the majestic Rwenzori Mountains, the iconic Source of the Nile, and the wildlife-rich savannas of Kidepo Valley National Park. This initiative aims to heighten Uganda’s profile among European travellers and establish it as a premier travel destination.

Ambassador Doreen Ruth Amule highlighted the strategic timing of the campaign, coinciding with Paris’s peak summer tourism season, which draws visitors from across the globe. “We want to take advantage of that opportunity by bringing Uganda closer to potential travellers,” she stated.

Each bus covers over 200 square kilometres daily, equipped with QR codes. These codes provide instant access to detailed information about Uganda’s tourism offerings, travel packages, and investment prospects, aiming to convert viewer interest into concrete travel plans. The embassy is targeting an increase in visitors from France, Spain, and Portugal, building on previous growth in tourist numbers from these regions.

Fellow African diplomats in Paris, including Zimbabwe’s Ambassador Dr. Irene Sekai Nsenza, have lauded Uganda’s innovative approach, recognizing the unique appeal of attractions like mountain gorillas. This campaign is seen as a vital part of Uganda’s economic diplomacy, designed to boost tourism, trade, and investment by directly engaging with a vast audience of potential international travellers and tour operators.
