Ecobank Uganda has announced the appointment of Dunstan Ian Rukare to its board as an Independent Non-Executive Director. The bank expressed confidence that Rukare’s considerable experience will bolster its governance frameworks and strategic vision.

With over two decades of financial expertise across various African markets, including Uganda, Kenya, and Nigeria, Rukare brings a wealth of knowledge. His career includes significant roles at The Coca-Cola Company, where he served in multiple senior finance positions for over eight years, managing commercial finance and regional finances.

Currently, Rukare holds the position of Global Financial Operations Director at UpEnergy, a role he assumed in December 2021. Earlier in his career, he was involved in the financing and human resources management for the Bujagali Hydroelectric Power Plant project.

Rukare’s academic qualifications include a certificate from The Wharton School’s Advanced Management Program, an MBA from The University of Manchester, and ACCA certification in Accounting and Finance. Ecobank Uganda anticipates that his guidance will support the bank’s ongoing commitment to higher banking standards, innovation, and sustainable growth within Uganda’s financial sector.

This appointment underscores Ecobank Uganda’s dedication to strengthening corporate governance and delivering enhanced value to its stakeholders.
