A senior UPDF officer, identified as a Brigadier General, is facing a joint investigation by the police and the army following an alleged assault on two police officers at Bulucheke Police Station in Bududa District. The incident, which took place on the evening of Tuesday, June 23, 2026, reportedly involved the General, who is accused of physically assaulting Detective Corporal David Olar and Detective Constable Rebecca Nakami.

According to preliminary reports, the General arrived at the police station with his bodyguards, demanding to know why cases involving his relatives were not being resolved promptly. A police source detailed how the General allegedly grabbed D/Cpl Olar by his collar, threw him to the ground, cocked his pistol, and proceeded to flog him with a stick. When D/C. Nakami attempted to record the incident on her phone, she was allegedly slapped and her phone confiscated, with orders to delete any recording.

Several civilians present at the station at the time are reported to have witnessed the dramatic events. D/Cpl Olar sustained injuries to his knee and received medical treatment, with a report filed as evidence. D/C. Nakami is still awaiting the return of her phone.

Elgon Regional Police Spokesperson, SSP Rogers Taitika, confirmed the ongoing joint investigation between the UPDF and police. While the General has not yet formally provided a statement, sources suggest the incident may stem from a prior traffic accident involving his relative, whose case had been pending investigation.

This incident is part of a concerning pattern of alleged military interference and assault on police personnel in Uganda. Past events include similar raids on police stations in Wakiso and Lubowa in 2025, where police officers and civilians were reportedly beaten and robbed by soldiers, with few legal conclusions reached in those cases.
