The British School of Kampala (BSK) Muyenga will host the thrilling conclusion to the eighth circuit of the Pursuit Swim League this week. The competition has come down to a tight race between the Astros and Flames, who are separated by a single point heading into the final leg.

Flames initially led the circuit in the first leg on June 12. However, Astros managed to dethrone them last Friday, securing the top spot for the day and accumulating nine points overall on the league table. This final circuit is exclusively for relay events, testing the teams’ combined strengths and coordination.

Last Friday’s meet saw Flames emerge victorious, securing first place in the 5x25m butterfly, breaststroke, freestyle, and medley relays. Despite finishing last in the backstroke relay, Flames accumulated enough points to move to eight overall, placing them second in the standings. Notably, Flames managed the meet without any disqualifications, a rarity among the competing teams.

Astros, meanwhile, did not win any individual relays last Friday but demonstrated consistency by finishing second in the 5x25m butterfly and medley relays. They also secured third place in the backstroke and freestyle relays. A disqualification in the breaststroke relay saw them finish second on the night, allowing them to maintain their overall lead with nine points. The standings saw minimal shifts due to several teams encountering disqualifications, including Colts and Talons in the breaststroke relay, and Jets and Talons in the butterfly relay.

Colts are currently third overall with six points and still have an outside chance at the top spot if both Flames and Astros falter in the final day’s events. Jets are in fourth place, while Talons, with four points, are mathematically out of the running for the championship.

This final circuit promises high stakes as Astros and Flames battle for supremacy in the water.
