Okwere, speaking to local media, confirmed that he visited Ms. Among at her Nakasero residence last Tuesday. He stated that she was able to move around within her home, thereby dismissing claims of her being critically ill or unable to walk. However, he did acknowledge observing signs of swollen feet during his visit, indicating that there are indeed health concerns.

Echoing sentiments previously raised by Muhammad Nsereko, former Kampala Central MP, Okwere urged the government to grant Ms. Among unrestricted access to her chosen medical professionals and facilities. He emphasized the importance of her being able to seek comprehensive medical care, though he could not confirm the specific nature of her condition or link the swelling to the blood clot allegations made by Nsereko.

These statements come in the wake of Nsereko’s public remarks earlier this week, where he claimed on a TikTok live broadcast that Among was in dire need of urgent medical treatment, suggesting a serious health issue requiring immediate intervention from hospitals of her choice. Okwere’s account offers a more nuanced view, acknowledging health concerns while refuting the most severe characterizations of Ms. Among’s condition.
