State House Uganda has initiated an intensive induction program for 36 newly appointed farm managers and finance officers. These professionals are being trained to manage agricultural ventures within the Presidential Industrial Skilling Hubs and to provide oversight for over 170 Savings and Credit Cooperative Organisations (SACCOs) that support program graduates.

The week-long training, held at the Oliver Reginald Tambo Leadership School in Kaweweta, Nakaseke district, commenced on Monday, June 22, 2026. The curriculum is designed to instill a strong sense of patriotism, leadership acumen, and a clear understanding of the political economy, with a particular emphasis on mindset transformation and development principles.

During the opening of the induction, Eng. Raymond Kamugisha, Director of Presidential Projects and Industrial Hubs, urged the officers to draw lessons from Uganda’s history. He stressed the importance of building financially sustainable hubs through value addition, citing ongoing projects like a paper processing plant in Mbarara and a grain milling facility in Masindi. “Our objective is to ensure that these hubs become centres of production and wealth creation,” Eng. Kamugisha stated, emphasizing that value addition is key to maximizing the benefits of these investments.

These new managers will be crucial in guiding the farms at the hubs and offering technical support to the graduate SACCOs, each of which has received Shs50 million in revolving funds from President Yoweri Museveni. Eng. Kamugisha underscored the need for robust accountability and professional management to ensure the success of these initiatives aimed at empowering youth.

He also issued a stern warning against corruption and the mismanagement of public funds, reminding the officers that integrity and accountability are paramount in public service. “Even the misappropriation of Shs10,000 can cost you your job and destroy a career,” he cautioned.

Furthermore, State House is exploring a directive for government institutions to prioritize procurement from the Presidential Industrial Skilling Hubs, which produce items like furniture and school uniforms. This move aims to stimulate local production and create jobs.

Upon completion of their training, the officers will be deployed to various locations across the country to support the sustainability and growth of the Presidential Industrial Skilling Hubs programme. This initiative is a key part of the government’s strategy to combat youth unemployment through skills development and self-employment.
