Armed Robber Fatally Shot During Kampala Heist

A police patrol thwarted an armed robbery in Kampala, resulting in the death of one suspect. The incident unfolded in the early hours of Tuesday in Ssemwogerere Zone, Nakawa Division.

Officers on routine motorcycle patrol were alerted to an ongoing robbery on Mukasa Road. They arrived to find three armed individuals accosting a couple, demanding their valuables.

The assailants managed to rob the man of his phone and wallet at gunpoint before police intervention disrupted their actions. The suspects attempted to flee upon spotting the officers.

During the chase, the robbers dropped a bag containing items believed to be stolen. One suspect, an unidentified male estimated to be around 25 years old, sustained fatal injuries during the confrontation.

Police recovered a significant cache of items at the scene. These included a SAR rifle, a bayonet, four suspected stolen smartphones, two shaving machines, three jackets, an empty cartridge, a screwdriver, red canvas shoes, and a black laptop bag.

The body of the deceased has been transported to Mulago City Mortuary for a post-mortem examination. This swift police action highlights efforts to combat crime in the capital.
