Nile Post has been recognized for its significant contributions to environmental journalism, securing the Online Media award at the 2026 National Environment Sustainability Awards (NESA). The publication was lauded for its sustained coverage of critical issues including biodiversity conservation, wildlife protection, and broader environmental sustainability.
This accolade highlights Nile Post’s dedication to reporting on environmental matters, featuring stories that address biodiversity restoration, climate change impacts, pollution challenges, and the protection of wildlife. The consistent effort of its journalists in telling impactful stories about Uganda’s natural heritage and the urgent need for its preservation has been a key factor in this recognition.
Adding to the newsroom’s success, Nile Post contributor Joshua Kagoro was also honored as the first runner-up in the Individual Environmental Journalism category. Kagoro’s investigative work on air and water pollution, as well as his features on carbon credit projects and their effect on local communities, were specifically noted.
Jacobs Odongo Seaman, Nile Post Editor, emphasized that the award represents a collective achievement for the entire newsroom, reflecting a deep-seated commitment to environmental reporting. He stated that the recognition serves as a powerful motivator to continue raising the standards of environmental journalism.
The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) organized the awards ceremony under the theme “Innovation for Climate Resilience.” The event aims to celebrate and promote environmental stewardship by recognizing outstanding individuals, organizations, and media houses that demonstrate exceptional commitment to conservation and climate action.
