Spain showcased a dominant performance in their second World Cup fixture, securing a significant 4-0 win against Saudi Arabia. The victory propelled Spain to four points in the standings, a crucial rebound after their initial goalless draw with Cape Verde.

Highlighting the match was the exceptional performance of 18-year-old Lamine Yamal. Making his first start in the tournament, Yamal opened the scoring in the 10th minute, converting a precise cross from Mikel Oyarzabal. This goal marked a significant achievement for the young forward, making him one of the youngest players to score an opening goal in World Cup history.

Mikel Oyarzabal further extended Spain’s lead with a brace in the first half. He scored his first World Cup goals within a four-minute span, netting from a corner kick and then tapping in a cross following a header. The rout was completed shortly after halftime when a volley from Marc Cucurella deflected into the Saudi net for an own goal.

Spain’s victory extended their impressive unbeaten streak in competitive matches to 33 games. Both Yamal and Oyarzabal were substituted at halftime, though it appeared to be a tactical decision rather than due to injury. Yamal, who is still regaining full fitness after a hamstring injury sustained in April, has shown significant promise in his limited appearances.

With this win, Spain is in a strong position to advance from Group H. They can secure the top spot with a victory against Uruguay in their final group match. Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, remains on one point and will need a positive result in their last game to keep their knockout stage hopes alive.
