Hajj Karim Kaliisa, a prominent figure in Ugandan media and charity, recently addressed Muslim student leaders, emphasizing the foundational importance of discipline, strong relationships, and a commitment to education for their future success.

Speaking at the Muslim Students Association of Uganda (MSAU) Students Seminar & Capacity Building, held at Kinaawa High School in Kawempe, Kaliisa delivered a keynote address focused on equipping young leaders with essential skills. The seminar itself was designed to foster academic excellence and cultivate strong moral character among Muslim students.

Kaliisa stressed the significance of choosing friends wisely, advocating for networks that positively contribute to personal and academic growth. He encouraged students to forge meaningful connections that would provide support in their faith, studies, and life’s endeavors. He also highlighted the enduring value of the bonds formed among fellow students, predicting these relationships would remain important long after their school days.

Discipline and time management were central themes in his address. Kaliisa urged the students to value their time and act with purpose, cultivating self-discipline that doesn’t require constant oversight. He famously stated, “the sky is the limit, and with discipline, you can’t go wrong.”

Furthermore, Kaliisa reminded the aspiring leaders of the sacrifices parents make for their education, urging them to prioritize reading and academic pursuits to honor that commitment. He also strongly advised against corruption and encouraged a consistent display of respect towards teachers and all authority figures.

The MSAU seminar provided a platform for Muslim student leaders from various institutions to enhance their leadership capabilities, strengthen their character, and deepen their sense of academic responsibility.
