As the by-election campaign for the Kalangala District Woman MP seat nears its end, National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate Idah Nabayiga is focusing her efforts on improving the lives of residents and strengthening the implementation of government programs.

Nabayiga has pledged to prioritize initiatives aimed at boosting household incomes and ensuring that development programs, particularly the Parish Development Model (PDM), effectively reach all eligible beneficiaries. She expressed concern that some individuals within the oil palm sector, associated with Bidco, have not fully benefited from existing poverty alleviation schemes.

“When the money is brought, I will ensure that it reaches the people in the Bidco community so that they can also benefit from government programmes meant to improve household incomes,” Nabayiga stated during her campaign rallies.

Her agenda also includes addressing critical issues such as healthcare, access to clean water, education, road infrastructure, and improving ferry services for island communities. Nabayiga emphasized the need for leadership that understands the unique challenges of Kalangala’s geographical setting and can effectively advocate for the district.

She urged residents to remain united to strengthen Kalangala’s voice in seeking development opportunities from the government. Nabayiga expressed confidence in securing victory, citing the overwhelming support she has received throughout the campaign period. The NRM Vice Chairperson for Party Structures, Alex Mukasa, has also endorsed Nabayiga, highlighting her commitment and leadership capabilities.

Nabayiga invited supporters to the final NRM rally at Kibanga Playground, where President Museveni is expected to campaign for her ahead of the June 24 by-election.
