Abraham Ainamani emerged victorious in the inaugural 72-hole MTN Pro-Tee Series first leg held at Entebbe Club. The golfer, known for letting his actions speak louder than words, secured his win in dramatic fashion by sinking an eagle on the par-5 18th hole, ultimately finishing two shots ahead of rival David Kamulindwa.

Ainamani, representing Palm Valley Golf and Country Club and Entebbe Club, finished the tournament at four-under-par 280, earning him the largest share of the Shs15 million prize purse sponsored by MTN. This victory follows a similar close contest where Ainamani edged out Kamulindwa at the Three Ways tournament in Fort Portal just weeks prior.

Despite a round that saw six bogeys, Ainamani’s performance was highlighted by a crucial eagle on the 15th hole and three birdies throughout the competition. He spoke of his preparation, stating, “I have been working so hard to be ready for the upcoming tournaments. So I came to test my potential after adequately preparing for it.” He acknowledged the pressure of the final holes, especially after Kamulindwa had finished his round.

Kamulindwa expressed his disappointment, attributing his second-place finish to a “wrong decision” and a double-bogey on the par-4 14th hole during his closing round. “I came here to win. No one recognizes the second person,” he lamented, reflecting on a tournament where he felt victory was within his grasp.

The event showcased strong competition, with Ainamani consistently placing in the top five from the first day. His strategic approach on the final day involved focusing on fairways and attacking the greens, which ultimately paid off with his decisive eagle. The MTN Pro-Tee Series is set to continue, offering professional golfers a platform to test their skills and compete for significant prize money.
