Officials from Salamtel Uganda recently visited Next Media Park to hold discussions with Salam TV regarding a potential strategic alliance. This move signals a deepening of ties between the two “Salam” branded entities, aiming to create a unified front in both media and telecommunications sectors.
The proposed partnership envisages a comprehensive integration of services. This could include mobile connectivity, data bundles, eSIM solutions, mobile wallet services, and platforms for digital charitable giving like Zakat and Sadaqah payments.
During their visit, Salamtel Uganda’s representatives toured Next Media’s state-of-the-art studios and crucial technical departments. This assessment aimed to evaluate the infrastructure readiness for jointly delivering media and telecom services under the envisioned collaboration.
A key outcome of the strategic meeting was the mutual recognition of aligned missions, visions, and values between Salam TV and Salamtel Uganda. Building on this strong foundation, both parties have agreed that the next logical step is to formalize their cooperation through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Hajj Karim Kaliisa, Managing Director of Salam TV and Salam Charity, highlighted the existing brand synergy, stating that companies bearing the “Salam” name are often associated with Salam TV. He expressed confidence that this existing recognition would facilitate Salamtel Uganda’s integration and assure them of Salam TV’s guidance and support.
Salamtel Uganda officials echoed this sentiment, noting that the company has long operated with goals and values that mirror Salam TV’s. They believe many stakeholders already perceive a connection, which has fueled the desire for a closer working relationship.
Both organizations view this potential partnership as both timely and essential. With pre-existing foundations for cooperation and expressed readiness from stakeholders on both sides, the path forward appears clear. If finalized, the MoU would empower Salamtel Uganda to tap into Salam TV’s extensive media reach, while Salam TV would gain access to a broader suite of telecommunication solutions, ultimately enhancing their service offerings and audience engagement through integrated digital services.
