Dr. Joel Isabirye, a well-known media consultant, has been selected by the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) to oversee the establishment and launch of its new radio station. This project is a significant step for KCCA in enhancing its communication channels with the public.
Isabirye was chosen from a pool of nine media service providers who submitted proposals. His selection followed an evaluation process by the Authority.
The planned KCCA Radio is intended to be a primary platform for the Authority to share details about its ongoing programs, policies, development projects, and public service delivery efforts. This will provide residents with a focused source of information about Kampala.
Currently, KCCA utilizes various media outlets, including television, radio, print, and digital platforms, to reach its audience. The new radio station is expected to work in conjunction with these existing channels, offering a centralized hub for information related to the city’s administration and its operational activities.
Operating as a public service broadcaster, the station is anticipated to support KCCA’s broader goals of improving urban governance, enhancing service delivery, and raising public awareness on critical city matters. This development aligns with KCCA’s current efforts to upgrade infrastructure, improve sanitation, streamline traffic management, and advance urban planning within Kampala.
Dr. Isabirye brings a wealth of experience to the role, having been involved in the development and management of numerous broadcasting entities across Uganda. His expertise is expected to be instrumental in making the KCCA Radio a successful public engagement tool.
The Authority anticipates that the radio station will significantly improve the dialogue between city officials and residents, fostering greater public participation in shaping the future of Kampala.
