Prince Kassim Nakibinge Kakungulu, the titular head of Muslims in Uganda, has made a strong appeal for unity among the country’s Muslim leaders and politicians, particularly Members of Parliament (MPs).
Speaking at a luncheon hosted at his Kibuli residence following Friday Juma prayers at Kibuli Mosque, Nakibinge highlighted the importance of setting aside political affiliations for the greater good.
The gathering, which included Muslim MPs from across the political spectrum, was described by Nakibinge as an opportunity for fellowship, gratitude, and mutual understanding. He expressed his thanks to Allah for enabling these individuals to achieve leadership roles.
“The purpose of this function is to get to know one another, but also to thank the Almighty Allah for having enabled you to succeed and become Members of Parliament,” Nakibinge stated, commending the MPs for their resilience in the competitive political landscape.
He strongly advised against internal divisions, urging the leaders to channel their energies into serving their constituents and contributing positively to national development. “There is no reason why we should waste our energies on divisions,” he emphasized, stressing that cooperation is paramount, irrespective of political leanings.
The event saw religious leaders and Muslim legislators from various parties convene, underscoring Nakibinge’s call for a united front in representing and serving the Muslim community and the nation at large.
