Sam Mugabi, the recently installed Chairperson of Nansana Division, has outlined his administration’s commitment to establishing a transparent and equitable tax collection system. During his official handover ceremony, Mugabi emphasized that revenue generated from taxes will directly benefit all residents without discrimination, aiming to ensure that public resources serve the community effectively.

“We are going to establish a proper tax collection system that will be peaceful and beneficial to all residents,” Mugabi stated. He further highlighted that a core objective will be to enhance service delivery and accountability across the division.

One of Mugabi’s immediate priorities involves a thorough assessment of various departmental performances within the division. This evaluation aims to identify inefficiencies and streamline the delivery of public services to ensure they reach residents promptly and effectively. “I am beginning with an evaluation of the different departments in the division so that we can identify weaknesses and ensure that services reach the people efficiently,” he explained.

The chairperson issued a strong warning against corruption, especially concerning government poverty alleviation initiatives like the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga. He vowed to take firm action against anyone found mismanaging funds intended to uplift citizens out of poverty, asserting that these programs must reach their intended beneficiaries.

Mugabi stressed that development would be the central focus of his tenure, aiming to transform Nansana by tackling practices that have impeded progress. He also pledged to secure a lease title for the Nabweru Saza headquarters land to bolster development and support Buganda Kingdom institutions.

The ceremony also included calls from religious leaders for increased moral guidance for the youth and prayers for Mugabi’s success. Local leaders and residents expressed optimism about the new administration’s potential to usher in improved governance and development.
