Buganda Kingdom’s county chiefs are being called to a higher standard of performance, with a specific emphasis on improving service delivery and safeguarding valuable kingdom land. The directive comes as leaders seek to bolster development efforts across the kingdom under the guidance of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.

During a recent meeting of chiefs from Kyaddondo County, hosted in Nabweru Sub-county, Mariam Ndagire, the Chief of Mituba II County, stressed the critical importance of regular engagement and collaboration. She highlighted these gatherings as essential platforms for exchanging ideas and refining the implementation of the Kabaka’s developmental agenda.

Ndagire urged the chiefs to be more proactive in their roles, advocating for a spirit of initiative rather than dependence. She encouraged them to manage their immediate responsibilities, such as maintaining clean workspaces and submitting reports punctually, without waiting for external directives.

A significant concern raised by several chiefs was the difficulty in securing land for county headquarters and administrative functions. Furthermore, there was a strong consensus on the growing issue of encroachment on Buganda Kingdom land. The chiefs collectively pledged to intensify efforts in protecting these ancestral properties, vowing to defend kingdom assets against land grabbers for the benefit of future generations.

Participants expressed gratitude towards Ndagire for her consistent efforts in organizing these meetings and providing guidance for performance improvement. The gathering concluded with a reaffirmation of the chiefs’ commitment to enhancing coordination, diligently protecting kingdom assets, and furthering the overall development goals of Buganda.
