Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has made a strong case for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Kikuube District, urging voters to support NRM flag bearer Paddy Kisembo in the upcoming LC5 by-election. Nabbanja stated that electing Kisembo would ensure the continuity of government projects and enhance service delivery, particularly for women who could benefit from funds channeled through the Office of the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister highlighted the NRM’s track record in the Albertine region, citing infrastructure developments such as road construction and the creation of Kikuube District itself. She cautioned residents against choosing opposition candidates, warning that it could disrupt the ongoing development trajectory initiated by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
“If you want improved health services and more administrative units, then support Paddy Kisembo,” Nabbanja told a rally at Kaseeta Primary School, stressing that a high voter turnout for the NRM candidate would secure the future of existing government programs.
Candidate Paddy Kisembo’s campaign has centered on boosting the agricultural sector, which is the primary livelihood for many in Kikuube. He expressed a commitment to helping local farmers adopt modern technologies to increase production, addressing challenges like limited irrigation and inadequate market access.
Urgent issues such as water shortages and poor road networks were also raised by local leaders, including LC3 Chairperson Francis Twesige Mukooto, who called for action. Grace Mary Mugasa echoed these concerns, adding land disputes to the list of critical problems facing the district. Residents are also pushing for the creation of more administrative units to bring services closer to the populace.
The by-election is set to take place on Thursday, June 18, 2026, with Kisembo facing Fenekansi Timanyire of the National Unity Platform. Kikuube District has a total of 330 polling stations and 140,999 registered voters.
