Erias Lukwago, the former Kampala Lord Mayor and president of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF), is currently detained at the Kira Police Division headquarters in Wakiso district. Initial reports had placed him at Kira Road Police Division, leading many to investigate that location.

Lukwago’s legal team, headed by Medard Lubega Ssegona, encountered difficulties in locating him. Upon arriving at Kira Road Police Division, they were informed of his transfer to Kira. Subsequently, at Kira Police Division, only one lawyer was granted permission to see Lukwago while he recorded a statement. Other legal representatives, family members, and journalists were reportedly denied entry by heavily deployed security personnel.

Doreen Nyanjura, former deputy lord mayor of KCCA, stated that authorities indicated family and others would be allowed access later in the day. It remains uncertain whether Lukwago will be presented in court following his statement.

Lukwago was reportedly arrested on Monday by individuals in UPDF uniforms, arriving in vehicles known as “drones.” Residents in his Kampala suburb neighborhood reported road blockades early in the morning. The arrest occurred as Lukwago was allegedly preparing to serve court summons on Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, related to a court petition concerning alleged social media threats.

Lawyers and family members have denounced the operation, claiming operatives from the Special Forces Command (SFC) scaled his fence and apprehended him without a warrant. Despite official silence, Muhoozi has posted updates on his detention, including images, drawing criticism from legal bodies and the public.
