Senior legal figure and former Kampala Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago, has been moved to Kira Road Police Station. This development follows his reported apprehension by armed operatives from his home in Wakaliga on Monday.

Sources close to the situation suggest that Lukwago, who has been in military detention since his arrest, is slated to face serious charges including treason and misprision of treason. These charges echo those currently brought against opposition leader Kizza Besigye, whom Lukwago has been representing in court.

The arrest came as Lukwago was reportedly preparing to file a court order demanding the appearance of CDF Muhoozi Kainerugaba. This order was related to allegations of abduction and torture in Besigye’s case against the government and the First Son.

Lukwago’s whereabouts were unknown for several days, causing significant concern among his family, legal colleagues, and political allies. His transfer to Kira Road Police Station on Thursday morning precedes potential legal proceedings.

As of the time of reporting, official statements from authorities regarding the circumstances of his arrest, the legal grounds for his detention, or the specifics of the alleged charges have not been released. Neither the Uganda Police Force nor the Uganda People’s Defence Forces have commented publicly.

Lukwago’s prominence as a lawyer, opposition politician, and a well-known legal advocate in Uganda means his arrest is expected to draw substantial public and legal attention.

This is a developing story. Further details will be provided as they become available.
