AC Milan has officially appointed Ruben Amorim as the club’s new manager, signaling a new era as they aim to rebuild after a difficult Serie A campaign. The 41-year-old Portuguese tactician takes the reins following Massimiliano Allegri’s dismissal, which came after Milan finished fifth in the league last season, failing to secure Champions League football.
Amorim expressed his enthusiasm for the new role, stating, “I know exactly what this club means: history, prestige and an extraordinary fanbase around the world. It is a challenge I embrace with pride and enthusiasm, fully aware of what these colours represent.” He added, “I can’t wait to get started and to experience every day the passion that drives AC Milan.”
The Rossoneri concluded their season with a dismal run of form, winning only one of their last four matches and ending the campaign with a home defeat to Cagliari. The performance drew significant criticism from the San Siro faithful, with the club now facing a second consecutive season without Europe’s premier club competition.
While Amorim had a challenging 14-month stint as head coach at Manchester United, his reputation remains strong due to his successful tenure at Sporting CP. There, the former Portugal international led the club to their first Primeira Liga title in 19 years in 2021 and secured another league crown in 2024. Amorim’s appointment marks AC Milan’s fourth managerial change since their last Serie A triumph under Stefano Pioli in 2022.
