Kazibwe Kapo, a prominent band musician, recently held a highly successful concert in Kampala that saw a large attendance.
Following the event, the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) stated that it had provided support for the concert. However, Kazibwe Kapo has publicly challenged this assertion.
In a recent interview, Kazibwe Kapo directly addressed the reports, stating that the claims of financial backing from the UNMF or Eddy Kenzo are untrue. He clarified that the support he received was primarily from fellow artists and attendees who purchased tables and showed up for the show.
“I never received any funding from UNMF or even Eddy Kenzo. The reports circulating about them funding my event are false,” Kazibwe Kapo stated. He further elaborated that, “The people who supported me attended the event, and the artistes who came through for me bought tables and were also present on that day.”
This clarification comes amidst discussions about the support structures available for musicians within the industry. Kazibwe Kapo’s successful concert, achieved through the direct engagement of his peers and fans, highlights a form of solidarity within the music fraternity.
