Kakumiro Businesswoman Hatched to Death, Robbed of Shs 17.5 Million

Tragedy struck in Kakumiro district when a young businesswoman, identified as Alice Natukunda, aged 32, was brutally murdered in her home. The incident occurred on a Saturday night around 9 pm in Kisiita East Cell.

According to preliminary police reports, a group of masked individuals armed with machetes forcibly entered Natukunda’s residence. They allegedly demanded cash from the businesswoman. When she resisted, the attackers resorted to extreme violence, hacking her multiple times on the head, face, and neck, resulting in her immediate death.

The assailants reportedly did not stop at murder. They are also said to have threatened two other individuals present in the house, including Natukunda’s husband, Justus Tugumisirize, warning them against raising any alarm. After committing the heinous act and securing their loot, the suspects fled with a bag containing Shs 17.5 million in cash. They disappeared into the night, leaving behind a scene of devastation.

The incident was subsequently reported to the Kakumiro police, who promptly arrived at the scene to commence investigations. The Albertine regional police spokesperson, Julius Hakiza, confirmed the incident and stated that a dedicated team, including Flying Squad detectives, has been deployed in an effort to apprehend the perpetrators.

Natukunda’s body was transported to Kakumiro Health Centre IV for a post-mortem examination before being released to her family for burial arrangements. The police are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in tracking down the suspects.
