General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the driving force behind the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), has initiated a substantial reshuffling of the organization’s leadership. These changes, communicated on Monday morning, see key positions altered as the political pressure group evolves.

Among the prominent figures affected by this shake-up is political analyst Frank Gashumba. Gashumba has been removed from his position as Vice Chairperson for the Buganda Region, marking the end of his tenure in that specific leadership capacity within the PLU.

Taking over Gashumba’s vacated role is Kiryowa Kiwanuka, the current Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs. Kiwanuka’s appointment as the new Vice Chairperson for Buganda was formally announced by General Muhoozi via his official X account, formerly known as Twitter.

In addition to the changes in the Buganda region, the PLU has also seen its national leadership restructured. Fadil Twalla has been appointed as the new Secretary General, succeeding David Kabanda, who has served in the role for the past three years. Muhoozi expressed his gratitude to Kabanda for his dedicated service and acknowledged the high standard he set for the position.

These strategic adjustments signal a period of significant restructuring for the PLU as it aims to broaden its political reach and influence across Uganda.
