Residents of Kitoba Town Council in Hoima District are expressing optimism following the official commencement of construction for the Shs3.1 billion Kitoba Seed Secondary School. The project, handed over to Dolphins Consult Engineers and Contractors Company, is set to begin on June 24 and is slated for completion within ten months.

This initiative is part of a broader government program aimed at establishing secondary schools in areas with limited access to education, particularly within sub-counties and town councils. The new facility is designed to offer a comprehensive educational environment.

Project supervisor Patrick Bongmin detailed the planned infrastructure, which includes four classroom blocks, two science laboratories, a multipurpose hall, an administration block, an ICT centre, a library, three staff housing units, and sports facilities. “This is a complete education package designed to provide a conducive learning environment for both learners and teachers,” Bongmin stated.

Local leaders, including Hoima District chairperson Uthuman Mugisha Kadiri, have lauded the project as a significant achievement resulting from years of advocacy. “We are very grateful to the government for responding to our concerns. This school will benefit thousands of children who have been struggling to access secondary education,” Kadiri remarked.

Concerns about distance and cost to existing schools have previously led to absenteeism and dropout rates. The new seed school is expected to alleviate these burdens, making education more accessible and affordable for families in the region. District officials have pledged to closely monitor the construction to ensure quality and adherence to timelines.

Assistant Resident District Commissioner Shafih Ntuuyo emphasized the government’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure nationwide, highlighting education as a vital pillar for national development. The contractor has been urged to prioritize quality and ensure value for money throughout the project’s duration.
