Nansana Municipality Mayor John Bosco Kaana Kambata has taken a significant step towards inclusive governance by unveiling a cross-party executive committee. This new leadership team includes representatives from the National Unity Platform (NUP), the National Resistance Movement (NRM), and the Democratic Party (DP), signaling a departure from purely partisan politics.
The appointments, which were unanimously approved by the council, fill key positions such as Deputy Mayor and heads of crucial sectors including finance, education, and health. Mayor Kambata stated his administration’s primary focus will be on delivering essential services to the residents of Nansana, irrespective of their political leanings.
“Leadership is about delivering services to residents and not about political parties,” Mayor Kambata asserted, underlining his commitment to serving all constituents without discrimination. This approach is particularly noteworthy in Nansana, a rapidly growing urban center within the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area, which faces mounting demands for improved infrastructure and public services.
Among the key appointments, Prossy Kirabo will serve as Deputy Mayor. Ivan Kigwe (DP) is set to lead Finance and Planning, while Aisha Nasuna (NRM) will oversee Education and Health. Mayor Kambata urged the committee members to uphold integrity and professionalism, warning that accountability would be strictly enforced.
He challenged the team to align their efforts with national development goals and focus on initiatives that directly enhance the quality of life for Nansana’s residents. The committee members have pledged to collaborate and set aside political differences to achieve common development objectives.
This new administration aims to foster cooperation and address the pressing needs of Nansana, including roads, drainage, and waste management, as the municipality continues to expand. The success of this inclusive approach will be crucial in translating the mayor’s vision into tangible improvements for the community.
