The highly anticipated 2026 NCBA Golf Series has officially launched in Uganda, marking its fourth anniversary with an increased focus on talent development and elite amateur competition. This year’s series kicks off this weekend at the par-72 Uganda Golf Club in Kitante, drawing an expected field of over 120 players.

NCBA Bank Uganda executive director Julius Konyani highlighted the bank’s commitment to sports and community development, emphasizing golf’s role in teaching valuable life skills such as discipline and resilience. “We began the 2026 season with an electrifying start in Kenya and we are thrilled to bring the momentum to Uganda,” Konyani stated during the launch, underscoring the country’s demonstrated passion for the sport.

The series, which also takes place in Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda, serves as a crucial platform for emerging golfers to test their skills against regional talent and gain significant exposure. Uganda Golf Club chairman Paul Nuwagaba expressed his delight in hosting the prestigious event, noting its importance for competitive advancement among local players.

Following the Kitante leg, the series will move to the Entebbe Club on October 3. Winners from the Ugandan legs will earn the opportunity to represent the nation at the grand finale scheduled to be held in Nairobi, Kenya, later in the year. Beyond the competition, the NCBA Series is also committed to community impact, partnering with Pendeza Uganda to provide water purifiers to 40 vulnerable families, aiming to improve access to safe drinking water.

This initiative continues NCBA’s legacy of supporting golf, which began as a board idea in 2022. Last year, Uganda saw seven qualifiers, including junior player Gabriel Amani, advance to the Nairobi finals, showcasing the growing strength of Ugandan amateur golf.
