Pastor Wilson Bugembe has recently addressed the public’s attention surrounding his rendition of Bobi Wine’s popular song, “Batukasukulalila.” Bugembe clarified that he proceeded with the remake without seeking explicit authorization from the “Bobi Wine” due to the deep and enduring friendship they share.

Speaking in a recent television interview, the pastor explained that his intention was to reinterpret the song’s message and disseminate it to a broader audience, particularly “the people on the ground.” He expressed confidence that Bobi Wine, his long-time friend, would understand and not take offense at his creative liberties with the track.

“I redid the song and wanted it to reach the people on the ground. I knew that Bobi Wine is my friend, so he wouldn’t get mad about my version of the song,” Bugembe stated.

The close relationship between Bugembe and Bobi Wine, who also leads the National Unity Platform (NUP), spans almost twenty years. Their bond extends beyond their musical careers and is characterized by mutual respect for each other’s contributions and influence within Uganda.

Bugembe’s comments suggest a harmonious relationship between the two artists, indicating that his cover version has not caused any friction. Their friendship continues to be a testament to their enduring connection.
