A Kasanda resident, 30-year-old Stephen Mukiibi, has presented himself at the ancestral home of the late Kadongo Kamu musician Paulo Kafeero, claiming to be the singer’s biological son. Mukiibi arrived at the estate in Masaaba Village, Nkokonjeru, accompanied by his grandfather, Tadeo Lulika, and an introduction letter from his local chairman.
Mukiibi stated that persistent dreams about Kafeero, urging him to find Masaaba Village for peace, prompted his journey. Initially dismissing the visions, the dreams intensified, culminating in a significant spiritual experience that coincided with recent news about the exhumation of Kafeero’s remains for DNA analysis.
The claimant attributes a history of personal setbacks, including relationship failures and unfulfilled aspirations, to a lack of connection with his paternal lineage. He hopes that this revelation and potential scientific validation will bring resolution.
His grandfather, Tadeo Lulika, corroborated Mukiibi’s account of the dreams and expressed readiness for scientific confirmation, including DNA testing. Lulika noted that Mukiibi’s mother is currently unable to confirm the paternity due to mental health challenges.
Stella Nantongo, a daughter of the late musician and manager of the Masaba estate, welcomed Mukiibi cautiously, acknowledging the many individuals who have claimed connections to Kafeero since his death. Mukiibi’s appearance adds a new dimension to the ongoing family disputes and legacy questions surrounding the renowned Kadongo Kamu artist.
