The Uganda Investment Authority (UIA), in partnership with Operation Wealth Creation (OWC), has officially launched an Investment Profile for the Acholi Sub-Region in northern Uganda. This comprehensive profile is designed to equip potential investors with essential knowledge, thereby facilitating informed decisions about investing in a region that is rapidly emerging as a prime location for both local and international capital.

The Acholi Sub-Region, comprising nine administrative units including Gulu City and Kitgum Municipality, along with several districts, possesses significant competitive advantages. These include abundant land with strategic zoning, a dynamic labour force, excellent market access and connectivity, and a supportive governance framework.

Strategically located bordering South Sudan to the north, the sub-region is poised for growth. Brigadier General Godfrey Muwanguzi, Deputy Chief Coordinator of OWC, emphasized the importance of local government collaboration in capitalizing on these opportunities during the launch event held at Acholi Inn in Gulu City.

UIA Director General Robert Mukiza highlighted the Acholi Sub-Region’s potential as a dynamic investment corridor. He pointed to promising sectors such as agriculture, agro-processing, commercial livestock, tourism, mineral development, and value-added manufacturing. Mukiza, represented by the Director of Domestic Investment, Richard Nuwenyesiga, underscored the region’s fertile land, its youthful demographic, strategic geographic position, and access to regional markets as key draws for investors.

“We invite prospective investors, development partners, and strategic collaborators to explore investment opportunities in Acholi, engage with the Uganda Investment Authority for facilitation, and join in realising the immense potential of the sub-region,” stated Mukiza, encouraging engagement with the UIA for seamless investment processes.
