The 2026 FIFA World Cup, hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will have a new sonic identity with the release of “Dai Dai,” the official anthem by Shakira and Burna Boy. This collaboration aims to capture the vibrant essence of the global football spectacle.

The song, featuring a blend of explosive percussion, emotive melodies, and multilingual chanting, is designed to resonate with the passion and unity of football fans worldwide. The phrase “Dai Dai,” meaning “come on” or “let’s go” in Italian, reflects the track’s energetic and motivational tone.

Shakira, a veteran of World Cup anthems with hits like “Waka Waka” (2010) and “La La La” (2014), teams up with Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Burna Boy. Their collaboration weaves together African rhythms, dance-pop, and reggaetón elements, promising a sound suitable for stadium celebrations and fan gatherings across the globe.

Initially, “Dai Dai” reportedly replaced another candidate song, “Lighter” by Jelly Roll and Carín León, after online backlash from fans who found the latter track too subdued for a World Cup anthem. The public’s demand for a more exciting and globally appealing song paved the way for Shakira and Burna Boy’s collaboration.

Beyond its musical appeal, “Dai Dai” is also linked to a charitable cause. A portion of the song’s royalties will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, aiming to improve educational and football opportunities for children internationally.

This tradition of World Cup anthems, stretching back to the 1960s, has consistently provided memorable soundtracks that go hand-in-hand with the footballing drama. With “Dai Dai,” FIFA continues this legacy, seeking to unite the world through music and celebration.
