A tragic incident unfolded in Kampala’s Kawempe Division when a building undergoing construction suddenly collapsed on Friday afternoon. The collapse occurred in the Kisota Zone, Kibaaye Parish, around 3 PM.

Emergency responders were quickly on the scene, and their swift actions led to the rescue of nine individuals. These survivors were immediately transported for medical treatment following their extraction from the debris.

Search and rescue operations are still actively underway. Authorities are working diligently to determine if any other people are trapped beneath the rubble and to ascertain if there have been any fatalities.

Investigations into the cause of the structural failure have been initiated by the police. Efforts are also being made to locate and apprehend the site supervisor, along with any other individuals deemed responsible, to assist in the ongoing inquiry. The focus remains on rescue efforts and understanding how this preventable tragedy occurred.
