Trump confirms 'effing crazy' call to Netanyahu over Lebanon conflict

Donald Trump has admitted to an expletive-filled phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu concerning the escalating conflict in Lebanon. Trump confirmed on a podcast that he referred to Netanyahu as “effing crazy” during the call, expressing his frustration with Israel’s persistent engagement in hostilities.

While Trump characterized himself as “a little bit perturbed” rather than angry, reports cited by Axios suggested a more heated exchange. According to these reports, Trump told Netanyahu, “You’re fucking crazy. You’d be in prison if it weren’t for me. I’m saving your ass. Everybody hates you now. Everybody hates Israel because of this.”

Netanyahu, when asked about the report, acknowledged “tactical disagreements” but emphasized a strong relationship with Trump. He stated that they “always find a way to work out our differences” and reiterated Trump’s strong support for Israel during his presidency.

The conflict has complicated US efforts to negotiate an end to hostilities with Iran. Iran has indicated it will not agree to a deal unless a ceasefire includes Lebanon. Hostilities have continued despite a recent US-mediated agreement.

Trump also defended his decision to withdraw from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, asserting that his actions were necessary to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and that Israel would be in a far worse position without his intervention.
