The Uganda Lady Volleyball Cranes are poised to secure a spot in the 2026 CAVB African Nations Volleyball Championship, requiring just one more victory in the ongoing Zone V Nations Championship Qualifiers held in Kampala.

Uganda launched their campaign with a decisive win over Burundi, showcasing a dominant performance across all aspects of the game. This victory places them in a strong position to claim the sole qualification slot available in the competition.

Coached by Protus Soita, the team’s strong start has been highlighted by the impressive performance of receiver-attacker Catherine Ainembabazi, who led the scoring with 12 points. The Lady Cranes are considered favorites, especially with several regional and continental powerhouses absent from the qualifiers.

The qualification path is straightforward for Uganda. A win against South Sudan in their final match on Friday will guarantee their advancement to the continental championship. The tournament features a round-robin format among Uganda, Burundi, and South Sudan, with the top team earning the qualification spot.

Bolstered by home support and their opening success, the Lady Cranes are confident heading into their decisive match. Receiver-attacker Claire Najjuko emphasized the importance of maintaining their strong serving performance from the Burundi game for the upcoming clash. The 2026 African Nations Volleyball Championship is scheduled to be held in Nairobi, Kenya.
