Soroti Teacher Dies in Tragic Road Accident

A somber incident unfolded on Martyrs Day along the Soroti-Lira highway, claiming the life of Joseph Angai, a 48-year-old teacher at Soroti Secondary School. Angai, a resident of Oriamo Sub-County in Kaberamaido District, was riding his bicycle in Aoya B Village when a speeding Toyota Wish vehicle collided with him.
The accident occurred as the vehicle was traveling from Soroti City towards Lira City. Tragically, Angai sustained fatal injuries and passed away at the scene.
East Kyoga Regional Police Commander, Mr. Ibrahim Saiga, confirmed that the driver of the vehicle, who hails from Mbale City, has been arrested and is currently in custody at Kaberamaido Central Police Station. He is assisting police with their ongoing investigations into the fatal crash.
Angai’s body has been transported to Kaberamaido Hospital for a postmortem examination. Police are urging all road users, particularly drivers, to exercise extreme caution, adhere strictly to traffic laws, and show respect for pedestrians and cyclists to prevent future tragedies on the nation’s roads.
