Authorities in Kampala have wrapped up their investigation into a significant aggravated robbery case, with seven individuals now facing charges. The suspects are accused of stealing a substantial sum of Shs. 620 million from the Economic Exchange Forex Bureau.

The individuals slated to appear in court are Mulindwa Sharif, Akid Khalid (also known as Bombe), Kayiira Muhamed, Tamim Kawaganya, Ongom Ivan, Kasozi Ismael (also known as Maso), and Gizamba Ivan.

According to Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, the alleged robbery took place on March 26, 2026. The incident occurred at the forex bureau’s Nkrumah Road branch in Kampala, where a businessman was reportedly targeted.

Investigators state that the suspects made off with a black backpack containing the stolen cash. Owoyesigyire also confirmed that the accused were allegedly armed at the time of the offence, specifically mentioning the possession of a ‘panga’ (machete) as a dangerous weapon.

The seven suspects are jointly charged with aggravated robbery, an offense that carries severe penalties under Ugandan law. Their case will be heard at the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s court.
