The final resting place of legendary Kadongokamu singer Paul Job Kafeero was disturbed this week as his body was exhumed. This solemn act was carried out under a court order, intended to address a deep-seated family conflict regarding the musician’s estate and the parentage of several claimants.

The primary goal of the exhumation was to collect bone and tissue samples. These samples will be crucial for DNA testing, which is expected to definitively identify the biological children of the late music icon.

Legal representatives for a group of children alleging wrongful exclusion from Kafeero’s estate stated that the exhumation was funded by outgoing State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs, Balaam Barugahara. Joseph Luzige, the lawyer for these claimants, confirmed that “samples from the late Kafeero’s body will be compared with samples from all the contesting children at the government laboratory on Wednesday.” He added that “this scientific intervention will finally settle this matter once and for all.”

Government Chief Pathologist Dr. Moses Byaruhanga, who supervised the procedure, emphasized its necessity in quelling years of public speculation and internal family strife. “This definitive test will remove all doubts and anxiety regarding the true lineage of Paul Job Kafeero’s offspring,” he explained.

Stella Nantongo, a recognized daughter of the musician, shared her apprehension, calling the exhumation a difficult but necessary step. “This is the last thing we wanted to happen to our father’s resting place,” she commented, “But if it is the only way to solve the underlying issues tearing the family apart, then it is good that it has been done.”

The exhumation drew a crowd of curious onlookers, kept at bay by security personnel. While some residents expressed cultural reservations about disturbing the deceased, many acknowledged the need for a final resolution to the prolonged legal battles surrounding Kafeero’s legacy. The results of the DNA tests are anticipated within the coming week.
