The Kigezi Anglican Diocese has witnessed a significant addition to its clergy with the ordination of seven priests and eighteen deacons. The service, led by Bishop Rt Rev Gaddie Akanjuna, aims to strengthen the church’s ministry across the diocese.

During the ordination, Bishop Akanjuna implored the new clergymen to dedicate themselves to faithful service, emphasizing the importance of eschewing worldly temptations and seeking divine guidance in their priestly duties. He stressed the need for trustworthiness, exemplary conduct that upholds Christian values, and respect for their attained leadership positions.

The bishop also urged the newly ordained to foster peace within their congregations and voluntarily show respect for both church and civic leaders. This call to unity and leadership was echoed by Reverend Canon Yoramu Ntoreine of South Ankole Diocese, who preached at the ceremony. Canon Ntoreine cautioned against segregation within the church and encouraged the new clergy to be proactive and willing shepherds, mirroring the dedication of Jesus Christ.

The diocesan head of laity, Canon Engineer Ivan Mbabazi Batuma, extended a warm welcome to the ordained individuals. He encouraged all Christians to collaborate with the new priests and deacons, working together for the betterment of the church’s ministry within Kigezi Diocese.

This ordination marks a significant step in the Kigezi Diocese’s efforts to expand its spiritual reach and pastoral care. According to the Daily Monitor, the ceremony took place on Sunday.
