Police in Njeru Municipality, Buikwe District, have initiated a search for an armed group responsible for the kidnapping of Ms Mollette Komugisha. The incident occurred on Thursday evening at approximately 8 PM at her residence in Bujowali Zone.
Ms Komugisha, wife of Mr Bosses Taremwa, director of St Abel School, was reportedly taken by four individuals riding motorcycles. According to Ssezibwa Region Police spokesperson Ms Hellen Butoto, the attackers gained access to the compound shortly after the gatekeeper, Mr Davis Ruhangirwo, had gone to a nearby shop. Upon his return, Mr Ruhangirwo encountered one of the suspects and was reportedly attacked.
“We are actively hunting for the suspects and making every effort to rescue the victim safely,” Ms Butoto stated on Friday, confirming that police and other security agencies are investigating the abduction. Details regarding any demands from the kidnappers have not yet been disclosed, as they have not contacted the family or security forces. An anonymous police officer involved in the investigation described the case as “complicated” but expressed optimism about resolving it.
This developing story is being followed closely by local authorities, who are working to ensure Ms Komugisha’s safe return.
