Bweyogerere residents and property owners are witnessing a dramatic transformation of their locale, largely attributed to the proximity and revitalization of the Mandela National Stadium, commonly known as Namboole.

Once a quiet settlement, Bweyogerere, now under Kira Municipal Council, has become a hotbed for real estate investment. The stadium’s revival, coupled with its expansion for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, has drawn a considerable influx of settlers, turning areas like Kirinya into sought-after and increasingly expensive locations.

This development wave is not confined to Bweyogerere alone; neighboring areas such as Kireka and Banda are also experiencing positive spillover effects. The stadium’s upgrade, which will boost its capacity to over 64,000 spectators, is expected to further accelerate real estate growth, business expansion, and infrastructure development, positioning the Bweyogerere corridor as a rapidly growing urban zone within the Kampala metropolitan area.

Improved road networks, including the Northern Bypass, have enhanced connectivity and made Bweyogerere an attractive business hub. Significant road works are underway, aiming to improve access between Jinja Road, Namugongo, the Uganda National Bureau of Standards, and the Namanve Industrial Park, thereby boosting trade and investment.

The hospitality sector is already responding to the anticipated surge in visitors for AFCON 2027. Hotels and entertainment venues, particularly those near the stadium, are undergoing extensive renovations and expansions to cater to the expected influx of fans and tourists, signalling strong investor confidence in the area’s economic potential.

The growing population, driven by these developments, has also necessitated the expansion of educational facilities, with numerous primary and secondary schools now serving the Bweyogerere Division. Furthermore, the increased business activity is reflected in rising revenue collections for the Kiira Municipal Council, which projects significant growth in its income for the upcoming financial years.
