Corruption Probe Expands to Anita Among's Bukedea Enterprises

The ongoing corruption investigation targeting outgoing Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has expanded its scope to include media, education, and healthcare facilities in Bukedea. A joint security team, comprising elements from the army, police, and the Internal Security Organisation (ISO), conducted a several-hour search at Mama Bukedea FM, a radio station reportedly owned by Among.

Sources indicate that investigators were particularly interested in identifying the station’s employees and obtaining lists of staff for the radio, a school, and a teaching hospital situated within the same complex. Junior staff present during the search claimed ignorance regarding the broader institutional operations, stating that management was absent.

Detectives also reportedly focused on the vehicles associated with the Anita Foundation, inquiring about their parking locations and interviewing drivers. A specific interest was shown in a school bus belonging to Bukedea Comprehensive School, with investigators allegedly seeking to determine if it was originally a parliamentary bus diverted for school use. Key information regarding the bus and its drivers was reportedly unavailable at the time.

Mama Bukedea FM shares broadcast frequency with FUFA FM, a radio station associated with the Federation of Uganda Football Associations, which is led by Among’s husband, Moses Magogo.

This latest search follows previous operations at Among’s residence, her mother’s home, and the residence of her personal assistant in Bukedea. Authorities have indicated that the investigation is continuing and may extend to the properties of other individuals considered allies of the Speaker in the district.

Among, the Woman MP for Bukedea District since 2016, is under scrutiny as the probe into her alleged financial impropriety during her tenure as Speaker continues.
