Two security guards are in critical condition following a pre-dawn raid on a Stabex fuel station in Kisoga, Mukono District, on Friday. The incident, which occurred around 3:00 AM, saw armed individuals overpower the station’s personnel.

According to a pump attendant present during the robbery, one assailant threatened him with a gun and demanded the night’s takings. After initial hesitation, the attendant surrendered about Shs350,000, upon which the attacker fled.

Upon investigating, the attendant discovered the two on-duty guards severely wounded and bleeding. One of the guards’ firearms was also taken during the assault. Police later arrived at the scene, collecting evidence including spent cartridges and a second firearm. A company jacket used to carry the stolen money was found discarded nearby.

This marks the third time the fuel station has been targeted by robbers in the past two years, with previous incidents also resulting in injuries and theft. Survivors of earlier attacks have noted the assailants’ apparent proficiency with firearms.

The injured guards were initially treated at Herona Hospital before being transferred to Mulago National Referral Hospital for advanced care. Police efforts to track the suspects using a sniffer dog were unsuccessful.
