Gulu University Lab Technician Found Murdered

Gulu City authorities are on high alert following the death of Chris Nyeko, a laboratory technician at Gulu University. The 40-year-old was discovered deceased in the early hours of Friday morning near St. Peter’s Catholic Church in the Laroo-Pece Division.

According to police, Nyeko was last seen the previous night at a local pub, D-Plus Pub. Preliminary investigations suggest he was attacked on foot as he was heading home from the establishment. Authorities suspect a misunderstanding at the pub may have led to him being followed and subsequently attacked.

Neighbors reported hearing shouting, indicating a struggle before Nyeko was killed. It is believed the attackers searched his body and made off with some belongings, possibly including his mobile phone. The body was found in the middle of the road, showing a significant wound to the forehead, likely caused by a sharp object.

Crime scene investigators have meticulously documented the location and collected evidence. The body has been transported to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination.
