Son of CID Director Drowns in US; Body to Return for Burial

The son of Uganda’s Director of Criminal Investigations, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Tom Magambo, has tragically drowned in the United States.

Timothy Muganzi Magambo, a 19-year-old student at the University of Albany in New York, was swimming with friends at Wades Beach on Saturday when the incident occurred.

According to reports from the Shelter Island Reporter, Muganzi became separated from his friends and was later found unresponsive in the water. Despite receiving lifesaving care and being transported to area hospitals, he sadly passed away.

Despite this personal tragedy, AIGP Magambo has reportedly continued with his police duties in Uganda, including his involvement in investigations concerning the former Speaker of Parliament.

A requiem Mass for Timothy Mugazi Magambo will be held at Our Lady of Africa, Mbuya, on Tuesday, followed by burial in Kisalabwire, Masindi District, on May 28.
