Four more suspects have been charged and subsequently remanded following the brazen break-in at the Bank of Uganda headquarters, bringing the total number of individuals implicated in the case to twelve.

The new accused, identified as Boaz Michael Kule, Ramathan Kabuya, Isaac Rubangakene, and Jorem Jude Oedo, appeared before Buganda Road Chief Magistrate Ritah Neumbe Kidasa on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. They all pleaded not guilty to charges related to the raid that occurred on May 3, 2026.

Prosecution alleges that the group, along with accomplices still at large, committed office breaking and theft. They are accused of unlawfully entering several offices within the central bank’s premises on Kampala Road and stealing six Lenovo and HP laptops valued at approximately Shs35.4 million.

These new charges are in addition to the ongoing case against eight security personnel, including police officers and private guards, who stand accused of negligence for allegedly failing to prevent the felony. All twelve accused have denied their involvement.

Investigations into the matter are reportedly still ongoing, and the Chief Magistrate has adjourned the case to May 29, 2026, for mention. The case has garnered significant public attention due to the nature of the institution involved and growing concerns about security at Uganda’s central bank.
