Authorities have announced a significant breakthrough in the Bank of Uganda (BoU) laptop theft case, confirming the recovery of all six stolen devices. This development comes alongside the arrest of four individuals suspected of involvement.

The laptops were reportedly taken from the central bank’s offices on Kampala Road during the night of May 3, 2026. Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, stated that following initial arrests and the recovery of two laptops, investigators continued their efforts.

“The additional arrests also led to the recovery of four more laptop computers. All six stolen laptops have now been recovered and are being held as exhibits,” Owoyesigyire confirmed.

The four suspects identified are Kule Boaz Micheal, Kabuya Ramathan alias Rama, Lubangakene Isaac Izoo, and Oedo Jorem Jude. They are expected to be arraigned before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court today, May 20, 2026.

Charges anticipated include office breaking, theft, receiving stolen property, and retaining stolen property. Police have indicated that investigations are ongoing to ensure all parties involved are brought to justice.
